Packing Up and Moving Out

I’m moving.  No I’m still living in my same house.  I’m moving urls.  This blog has been fantastic, but I feel like I need a clean start.  My Edublogs Supporter is about to expire and the new blogging challenge is beginning, so I figured that I might as well start fresh with a brand new blog.  Be sure to visit me a Jazzing Up Seventh Grade!

My Dream Vacation

I have always wanted to go to London, England. My parents and older brother went before I was born, but I have never been. When I was in elementary school, we filled out “All About Me” Posters at the beginning of the year. I remember that I always put London for where I would like to go.

One of the most fascinating things to me about London are the buses. To me, they always seem to be the bright splash 3513855in the middle of the city.

How Are Knitting and Reading Affected by Climate Change?

Climate change is “any long-term significant change in the weather patterns of an area”. (Dictionary.com)  But how is that significant to knitting and reading?

When is it best to knit? To me, it’s in the rain or snow with a cup of hot chocolate and friends.  When is it best to read? To me, it’s in the rain or snow by the fire with a blanket. See the connection?

The Earth has gotten 1 degree warmer over the last century. Most scientists think that this is from humans. (US EPA) This heat causes more rain and less snow.

So, if knitting and reading are best in the rain and snow, and climate change is leading to more rain and less snow, then knitters and readers are going to do more rainy day knitting than snowy day knitting.

Miss W’s Blogging Challenge Fall 2009: Challenge #2

The Student Blogging Challenge Fall 2009

I’m so excited that the blogging challenge has started! I am excited to become a better blogger! It helped me so much last year, so I am excited to do it again!

Why did you join the blogging challenge?

I joined the blogging challenge because I loved it last year, and I want to become even better this year.

Do you want to take part in the commenting section more than the better blogger section? Why?

I want to take part in the commenting section more because I feel that that area is where there is the most room for improvement. I will probably do some of the blogging challenges if they sound interesting, but I think I will mostly be doing the commenting challenge.

What do you hope some of the activities include?

I hope that some of the activities include the other end of commenting. I mean, I hope that not only do we learn how to write great comments, but how to get great comments on our blog.

Finally, what do you hope to get out of the challenge by the end of the ten weeks?

I want to learn how to leave great comments, and just little tips of information that help me to become a better blogger.

Miss W’s Blogging Challenge Fall 2009: #1

Miss W’s Blogging Challenge (Last post for today- I think!)

Miss W’s Blogging Challenge has been amazing. As the final *sniff* challenge of this semester, she has asked us to answer a few questions.

  • How has this challenge improved your communication skills?
  • How could blogging become an integral part of your school’s curriculum?
  • Would you take part in another challenge and why?
  • The challenge has improved my communication skills because I think that I have written better posts and been able to comment on a variety of people’s blogs through the challenge.

We post sometimes for English, but we could post more often. It could also be a requirement to post your stories and other writings. The blog could also be used in all classes, like science and social studies.

I will absolutely do another challenge! This one was really fun, and I have anticipated the publishing of the challenge for the week. The challenge has helped me a ton, so I think that I will 100% do another challenge!

Thank you Miss W for this amazing experience!

    Jobs

Ahh, nurses. I don’t want to be one. I don’t want to have anything to do with the medical field. I do not like blood, people hurt, examining people, none of it. My cousin is going to college to be a nurse, and my grandma is a registered RN. But I don’t want to be a nurse.

I want to be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). I enjoy math, and so I want to be an accountant. CPA’s earn more than regular accountants, and all they have to do is pass an exam to be certified. I think it would be fun to be a CPA at a large company in a city where I could take the subway to work!

What job do you want to have?

    How to Enjoy . . . Writing!

Writing can be an enjoyable experience! Try these things to get the most out of writing!

    1. Write about what you enjoy.

    2. Try free writing. Sit down for 15-20 min. and just write whatever comes to your mind.

    3. Revise and edit your work to make it even better.

    4. Share your work with others; they will enjoy hearing what you have written!

    5. Go out on a limb. Write about something you are not 100% comfortable with writing. You will write better than you ever have.

This is part two of a three part series. Up next: How to enjoy your favorite activity!

    How to enjoy . . . Reading!

Reading is fun if you do it correctly. Follow these steps to enjoy reading!

    1. Find a book on a topic that you like. (e.i. sports, Presidents, science, etc.)

    2. Set aside 10-15 min. a day to read in a quiet place.

    3. Read during those 10-15 min.

    4. If you are having trouble understanding the book, look on Spark Notes or ask someone else to help you.

    5. Start a book club! Grab a group of friends, read a book, and then discuss it! This can help you enjoy and understand a book, as well as having a ton of fun with your friends!

This is part one of a three part series. Coming next time: How to enjoy writing!
